Here are some pictures I found of the Admiral Theatre that I thought were interesting. I remember walking all the way up there in the mid-60's from our home on 21st (which MapQuest says is only 3.2 mile, but it seemed further) to watch movies like In Like Flint or a James Bond movie, and get a pack of Tropical Flavors Lifesavers. Very good stuff! I believe the old picture of the exterior is from when the theater first opened up in 1942. I have no idea when the Interior picture was taken. I keep meaning to get up there to watch a movie, but haven't yet. Waiting for the new James Bond movie, I guess.
I remember the walks as well; very surprised that it is only 3.2 miles...and you remember the same movies I do. How about PT109? I think we saw that there as well.
ReplyDeleteIt has to be further than 3.2 miles...we will measure it this summer when we are there...from point a to point b...and I don't remember that theater being so long...i must have had mor energy in the 60's!!!
ReplyDeleteGoing to a movie there sounds good if we can. So are we going to walk from 5408 21st SW, or drive?
ReplyDeleteYea, I think I would have to make that trip by van. I'd probably do all right until I got to Admiral Hill, then that would drain my battery right down. Interestingly you can now get beer and wine at the Admiral in the balcony, which has a place called the Crow's Nest Lounge. My kind of theater!
ReplyDeleteMy battery would drain before we even got to the bottom of the hill at the school, so I got dibs on driving the van!!!
Deletehey, your link to my homepage doesn't work... it's just www.christopherjenks.info
ReplyDeletealso, tickets to seattle are running at $1700 per person at the moment... hopefully it'll go down a bit, or........
